Zakiul Islam
Managing Director, NESCO PLC

Mr. Zakiul Islam has been responsible for the role of Managing Director for Northern Electricity Supply PLC. under the Power Division in Bangladesh since 30th July 2015.

Prior to joining NESCO, he served at NV Philips in the Netherlands as Head of the Industrial and Electronics Division. He was an Executive Director at Apex Tannery Group Limited. He performed as Project Manager for Scientific Atlanta, USA project in Saudi Arabia, implementing Satellite & Telecommunication. He was also a Senior Management Team Member of Banglalink mobile telecom service.

He was the founding President of the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) and is a lifetime fellow of IEB. He is a governing committee member for e-learning, MFS, and the regulatory governing body of GSMA, APT, SATRC, and ITU. He has attended workshops and training on power distribution systems, AMI, ADMS, and GIS in the EU, North America, and Asia Pacific.

Mr. Zakiul Islam was awarded the "National Integrity Strategy (NIS)" award in 2021-2022. Under his direction, NESCO secured 1st position in the "Mujib Barsho Beautification Contest 2021" among all the utilities in the Power Division. During his tenure, NESCO has secured 100% scores in the APA for consecutive years 2019-20 and 2020-21.
